DESCRIPTION OF COMMITTEE FUNCTIONS
The leadership of UFSC-LA has established a number of committees to carry out the goals and objectives of the organization, as well as offer opportunities for active member participation. Members are encouraged to become actively involved in one or more of the committees listed below.
Community Involvement Affairs Committee:
Develops programs to inform the community of financial opportunities. Quarterly, the committee conducts workshops and seminars on/for first-time homebuyers, small businesses, technology, and financial planning. These workshops are provided free of charge to the community through corporate support from financial institutions and other corporate entities.
Membership Committee:
Actively seeks prospective members, screens applicants, and communicates the goals and objectives of UFSCLA to new members. A key function of this committee is the retention of members. Another focus of this committee is membership development, achieved through seminars and workshops designed to enhance member development and growth. It also administers the Member-of-the-Year program.
Scholarship Committee:
Administers the UFSCLA scholarship program. This function includes: meetings with school counselors; identification of eligible candidates; planning and organizing the Scholarship Awards fund-raiser; and monitoring the progress of the scholarship recipients. It also works closely with the Membership Committee to establish educational programs for the membership.
Programs Committee:
Identifies and selects prospective speakers for monthly membership meetings. It also obtains sponsors and establishes the format for these meetings. Additionally, it develops and administers any other programs that would benefit the membership and works closely with the Scholarship and Membership Committees.
Public Relations Committee:
Liaison between UFSCLA and its constituents—the community and the financial services industry. Specifically, the committee disseminates information on the activities, goals, and objectives of UFSCLA through various news media.
Special Projects Committee:
Develops and implements projects that exemplify the goals and objectives of UFSCLA and are not already incorporated in the activities of the other committees.
